This is the newest in the Primera line of CD printers.  It features waterproof printing at lightning fast speeds.  It prints text, graphics, logos, and photos in any combination using monochrome black or two-color ink ribbons.  Currently you can only use this printer with screen coated media, not spin coated media.  Check your media supplier to be sure you're using compatible media.

Inscripta utilizes 600x300 dpi variable-speed thermal transfer print technology for durable and waterproof printing onto ordinary, inexpensive and readily available lacquer-surface optical discs.  The printer can print onto a wide variety of 120 mm discs such as CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RAM and DVD-ROM.

Inscripta prints at just 5-10 seconds per disc (actual printing time in monochrome mode).

Two color ribbons can be used by users who wish to add a splash of highlight color or a color logo to their CD designs without significantly reducing print speed or increasing costs.  Inscripta is the first thermal CD printer to offer two-color ribbons.  Several two-color combinations are available such as black/red, black/green, and black/blue.

Thermal transfer inks have three distinct advantages over other technologies for printing onto 120mm optical discs: (1) printed images are extremely robust and are highly smear- and scratch- resistant, (2) the ink is waterproof, and (3) cost per print is low: just $.05 to $.08 per color (MSRP).

The built in ribbon saving mechanism uses only the amount of ribbon necessary for printing the desired image, making cost-of-use as low as possible.   Drop-in ribbons are easy and fast to change.

Print driver software is included for Windows95/98, NT, and Windows2000.   A standard Centronics-type parallel interface makes it compatible with virtually all Windows-based PCs.  A mini-DIN connector for OEM autoloader interfaces is also included which controls tray in/out and other printer functions.  The outer case can be removed allowing for mounting inside a standard, full height drive bay.
