EZCD Print Support
Discontinued Product
CD Solutions Inc. will no longer be carrying
the EZCD Printer. Due to the high number of support
related costs, and the general dissatisfaction of our retail
customers. We find that it is not a product that mixes
well with our core business of Commercial Use CD-R and DVD-R
equipment. You can get support for this printer at the
manufacturer's site at EZCD
Print.
While the "home user" market is where the EZCD
Printer's niche is, this printer is not in our opinion a
commercial use unit in ANY way!
We do still have some of the Accessories for
this printer, so please give us a call if you need inks, B-Card
Trays, or Printable Media for this printer.
For Commercial Use Inkjet Printers, please
visit our Printers
Homepage!
There have been several reported problems that we have
cataloged to date that you can get help with here. We will
update this as we find more issues.
P: Printer ejects the
first CD after power up, and then prints fine on the
second.
Reason/Fix: This is normal for
the printer as described in the manual. When the printer
is idle for 5 minutes or more, the first disc will be
ejected. We have found that you can avoid this by leaving
the printer off while not in use and turning it on right before
you send the job to the spooler.
P: The CD is
printed with voided lines.
Reason/Fix: This normally
means that the printer properties are not set with the correct
settings. Make sure that the properties are set to print
on Glossy Photo Paper as the type, and that should clear up the
issue. If not check your artwork to make sure it's a high
resolution image. (600 dpi or higher)
P: Printer
prints the image way off center. As if it's the wrong
template
Reason/Fix: In the Discus CD
Printing software be sure that you have the correct template
chosen. On the Print tab, left top, there is a gray bar
that tells you which template is chosen. The default is
NOT the EZCD Printer. Click on the button directly under
the bar that says Select Template... and choose the EZCD
Printer. This will solve the offset printing.
P: The CD has vertical
scratches at the very top of the disc after coming through.
When the disc comes through it's
thicker than paper and can be scratched when pulling the tray
out of the printer. Be sure that you pull the tray
straight away from the printer to avoid scratching the disc when
pulling it out. Don't pull up on the tray as you pull
outward or it will scratch the printed surface of the
disc.
P: Printer prints the image slightly
off center.
Each printer is slightly different
when it comes to the placement of the image it prints. On
a piece of paper you don't recognize it of course, but on a CD
you will. There is an adjustment that can be made in the
Discus software that will solve this problem. On the Print
tab there are four arrows called Nudge arrows. You can use
them to move the image from side to side or up and down.
There are also two sliding bars that will allow you to adjust
the outer and inner diameter of the print. We have used
118.5mm outer and 40mm inner diameter for Print Write
media.
P: The printer won't print the job
at all.
Check to be sure you have the
correct printer selected to do the print job. If you have
a HP Printer normally and then forget to change to the Epson C60
printer as the driver, it may print nothing, or it may print
terribly offline. Be sure to have the Epson printer chosen
in the print dialogue box as the printer for the job.
P: The printer won't take the tray
with the CD in. It just sits in the tray holder while the
printer searches for paper
When you push the tray into the back
of the printer you will feel some definite resistance.
Don't let that stop you from pushing the tray in until the back
side of the tray is between the 2 raised lines on the
slide. To see if you have it in far enough open the lid of
the printer and look for the two plastic tabs of the tray.
They should be sticking out from between the rollers by about
1/4- 1/2 inch. This is normal and will allow the printer
to pull the disc through with no problem.
P: The CD Tray has scratches
on the bottom side of it.
It is normal for the tray to get
some scratches on the underside near the two tabs. It
comes from pushing the tray into the rollers and is perfectly
normal.
